NEWSLETTER

September will be an exciting month.  We have our Octoberfest on September 25th so break out those clogs, and practice your beer drinking skills.  The beer garden will be open and there will be lots of activities.  Invite your friends and family.  The bus rides are back….October 24 we will hit the road for a down South trip; Salmon Bay, Tacoma, Auburn & Puyallup.  Additional information and to register see our fabulous bartenders.  FOOOOOOTBAAAAL!!!  No place like our club to watch the games from the multiple screens and our open kitchen.  Check the calendar which can also be accessed at the redmondeagles.blogspot.com.

To everyone who has mailed or brought in your donation for the building fund…  THANK YOU.  We raised close to a $1,000! We know there’s more out there but not mailed yet.

ABOVE & BEYOND

This month we begin our Above & Beyond Awards program.  Log 50 volunteer hours and receive an Above & Beyond T-shirt, or donate $100 to our building fund and you can receive the T-shirt and the tax deduction.  We will have our first annual Above & Beyond banquet June 2016.

Thank you to everyone who showed up to celebrate Fred’s birthday and wound up folding the newsletter.  This is a very time consuming project and the more hands the better.  If you missed the fold-a-thon join us on September 24 at 4:00.

We extend a heartfelt standing ovation to the Eagle’s Travel Club who stepped up and donated $1,800 to the club so we can do things like pay taxes, keep the lights on, and the building air conditioned, buy food and alcohol etc., etc.

Yay! Yay! Popcorn is back thanks to Debra and her generous donation.  (Sorry Debra that it took so long to thank you)

Thank you to Tara Vinson and Anthony Kibby for taking on bringing us a family night if you would like more information or would like to support this effort contact Tara at 206-403-7220.

FUNDRAISER UPDATE

Did you miss it or forget?  The “Make a difference you can see” campaign is in full swing and extra flyers are located at the club.  Don’t worry it is not too late to donate funds to our club and get that much welcomed tax deduction.  Keep it coming folks.

TRAVEL CLUB OUTING
Sept. outing will be at the Lucky Eagle Casino/Hotel on Sept. 24-27th. Sharon will be calling everyone to see how many can commit to joining us!  They have RV hook-ups and are next door to the Casino with a shuttle going back and forth.  She will get all the information and we’ll discuss it at the next Travel Club meeting on Sept. 9th. (if you’re unable to come to the meeting and would like to go, we’ll call/email the particulars to everyone).
Happy Travels, travelers!

LADIES AUXILLARY

The dates are all set for the Fall Fest Bazar October 14 & 16th.  We need your homemade crafts, and bazar items.  Bring on the jams, jellies, jewelry, crocheted blankets, or whatever craft you enjoy.   All the profits go to Pope’s Kids Summer Camp and American Diabetes.  Please see Sandy Garske if you have any questions.
Now on Facebook - Redmond Eagles Ladies Auxiliary #3324 - please like us!

Donations for Hopelink Backpacks for kids needs to move into full swing as school starts soon.  The box and list is located just inside the door at the club.  Please support this important cause.

FIREWORKS FUNDRAISER

We extend a heartfelt THANK YOU to everyone who volunteered at the fireworks booth 24 hours a day in what proved to be the hottest week of the year to date.  These 20 people together put in over 200 hours of volunteer time:  Judy Kittleson, Carole Browning, Doug Woods, Mollie Singleton, Nick Johns, Thea Ariz, Britttney, Bud & Sandy Garske, Vi Goessman, Ken Eagleman, Karen Hampton, Becki Munnigh, Mike Moen, Meaghan S., Mike McClaskey, Scott Nettleton, Kris Wentworth Nettleton, and a special thanks to Paul & Katie Reyes who worked diligently to bring this fundraiser back.  The campaign raised close to $1,000, and the Trustees will continue to evaluate the viability of fireworks sales for next year.
NEW FUNDRAISER

The Trustees voted to create a new fundraising campaign, “Make a Difference You Will See.”  Please see the enclosed yellow insert for more details on how you can be involved!

VOLUNTEER SIGN UP

Do you love the smell of fresh paint?  Do you know how to install carpeting?  Are you an electrician or drywall finisher?  Can you wash dishes or can you pick up dishes?  Can you load a salad bowl?  Can you hang lights or do you like to decorate, clean, or make things pretty?  If you answered YES to any of these questions, then march right over to the bar and sign up on the new VOLUNTEER SIGN UP SHEET.   Here’s a good idea:  build a team of buddies and volunteer for a project together!  Whatever you do, sign up now!  We desperately need the drywall finished.  PRONTO!

NEWSLETTER

We apologize for the delay in getting the July newsletter out to you.  It appears now, however, that the problems have been worked out, and we should be able to get the newsletter out to you in a timely manner.  Please keep in mind that you can always call the club to find out what’s going on,
AND DON’T FORGET TO USE THE BLOG – http://redmondeagles3324blogspot.com.
We continue to evaluate the usefulness of the newsletter and hope to move to more cost effective measures. Currently we need to update the processes for creating, folding and sending the newsletter.  If you would like to be part of the plan and/or can help with folding, please contact the club or sign up at the bar on the VOLUNTEER SIGN UP SHEET.
Speaking of the newsletter, A BIG THANKS to Kris Wentworth for contributing several items this month, including the insert.  Good job, Kris!

LADIES AUXILIARY NEWS

Auxiliary President, Sandy Garske, is planning a special fundraiser for her two charities this year – the American Diabetes Association and Pope’s Kids.  A “Fall Fest” will be held featuring a sale of homemade goods.  Donations of any homemade items are welcome – jams and jellies, baked goods, knitted and crocheted items, etc., etc.  See Sandy if you’d like to donate anything.  All proceeds will benefit the charities.  More details are coming soon!

The Ladies Auxiliary will conduct a Memorial Service for Marilyn Bickford Davis Brill on Saturday, August 8 at 1:30 p.m.
GREAT TO SEE EVERYONE!
A big thanks to Sam and Mary Smith for hosting Sam’s “lucky 77” birthday party at the club on July 25.  It was good to see so many people who hadn’t been to the club in while!  Looking forward to $.78 hot dogs and beer next year, Sam!
