Access newsletter @ http://redmondeagles3324.blogspot.com.Newsletter items due on 20th of month.   IN MEMORY OF OUR FRIEND, TAMI BRINLEY We are all very saddened about the passing of our friend and longtime Eagles member, Tami Brinley.  Our deepest sympathy is extended to her family and friends.  A memorial service was held at the Redmond Eagles on March 22. A message from Mandi - Jason, Ellie and I would like to thank everyone for coming on Saturday to help celebrate my mom.  We’ve been overwhelmed by the generosity and support of our friends and family.  She loved the Redmond Eagles and everyone in it.  And we feel blessed to have such amazing people in our lives.   I look forward to sharing more memories with everyone.    Love, Mandi                                        APRIL = NOMINATIONS FOR NEW OFFICERS This is the month nominations will be accepted for new Aerie and Ladies Auxiliary officers.  Officer positions are President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, Conductor, Chaplain, Inside Guard and Trustees.  If you’re interested in being nominated, contact Aerie President, Scott Nettleton, or Ladies Auxiliary President, Suzy Farquharson, for more information.  Get involved!  The Redmond Eagles needs your leadership!                                             ST. PATRICK’S DAY DINNER A HUGE SUCCESS! Once again – THANK YOU SAM AND MARY SMITH for the wonderful corned beef and cabbage dinner.  It was wonderful as always!  Thanks, also, to everyone who helped with the dinner. Suzy Farquharson, Ladies Auxiliary President, extends a big thanks to everyone who donated to her charity, the Evergreen Cancer Foundation.  During the dinner, $163 was raised for the Foundation.  Thank you so much everyone for your generosity towards this worthwhile charity.                                                SUMMER KICK OFF CARNIVAL                                                     FRIDAY, MAY 30 (changed from May 2) Mark your calendars now and get ready for some serious summer fun as we kick off the summer festivities with games, music and an outdoor beer garden. Hello Seattle-area Eagles

We're part of a research team working on a linguistics study at the University of Washington Phonetics Lab.  We're looking for native English-speakers from the Northwest, and we'd like to cover a wide range of ages and neighborhoods.  We've had good response from students and staff on campus, but we also need people who aren't necessarily affiliated with the university, particularly people over 30 and especially men.  Would you be willing to help us spread the word by forwarding this message to your members and/or posting the attached flyer where they might see it? 

Northwest English Speakers Needed:
Are you a native English speaker who was raised in Washington, Oregon, or Idaho? Researchers in the UW Linguistics Department are conducting a study about the speech of people from the Pacific Northwest. Northwesterners age 18-75 with no history of speech or hearing deficits are eligible. Participants will be audio-recorded while they complete short tasks about imaginary situations in pairs or small groups. Each participant will receive $10 for a short session (about 1 hour), $15 for a medium session (about 90 minutes), or $20 for a longer session (about 2 hours). THANKSGIVING DINNER AT THE REDMOND EAGLES

Plan to have Thanksgiving dinner at the Redmond Eagles this year.  To make it a success, your help would be appreciated.  Donations of food items for the dinner are now being accepted by the coordinator of this event, Belle Williams.   We already have all the turkeys we need thanks to many generous members.  We need stuffing, potatoes, green beans, relishes and pies.  What would you like to bring?  Let Belle know by calling her at 425-885-0171 or via email at wey902@aol.com.  Cash donations are also welcome.  Or, you can sign up to help set up the dining area and/or cleanup after dinner.  ALL help will be welcome to ensure that we’re prepared to welcome everyone and serve a delicious, traditional Thanksgiving meal.  Thank you, in advance, for your generosity!

CHRISTMAS SEASON KICK OFF PARTY – Friday, December 6 - Special hot buttered rum drinks for $3.00 and other holiday treats!

NEW YEARS EVE PARTY – The club will open at 5 p.m.  Come on down and enjoy a delicious ham dinner at 6 p.m. and then dance to the music of “Kickin’ Dust.”  You’ll also get party favors, champagne and a continental breakfast after midnight.  The whole package is $25 per person.  If you arrive after 9 p.m., tickets will be $15 per person for party favors, champagne and the continental breakfast.  Be aware – confetti will happen!

TRAVEL CLUB UPDATE

CHRISTMAS DINNER – SATURDAY, DECEMBER 7 – Bring your favorite salad or dessert to complement the main meal that Lena is preparing.  Please come early to help set up tables AND don’t forget to bring your gift for the gift exchange!

ANNUAL CRAB FEED – SATURDAY, JANUARY 28, 2014 – Yes, it’s almost that time again!

Tickets will go on sale before Thanksgiving so make your Christmas list now and plan to buy your tickets early!  Crab Feed tickets are $30 each with 2 raffle tickets. Salad bar tickets are $14 each with one raffle ticket.  Tyler will be managing the crab feed and raffle ticket sales.  Volunteer to be part of the Crab Feed Committee.  Thanks to Tyler, Sharon, Don, Ruby and Evelyn for signing up so far!

IMPORTANT REMINDERS – We will have nominations of officers for 2014 at the November 13 meeting AND dues for 2014 are due!    Lucky dollar winner in October was Tyler!  Way to go!

IN MEMORY OF

Darlene Dazey, who passed away on October 12.  Darlene was a longtime, dedicated Ladies Auxiliary member who will be missed.  A celebration of her life will be held at the Redmond Eagles on Saturday, January 18, 2014 from 1-3 p.m.

WHAT ARE YOU THANKFUL FOR?

An impromptu survey was made to find out what some of our fellow members are thankful for.  Here are a few responses:  “I’m thankful that…….the roof hasn’t fallen in (yet)……… the Seahawks are having a super season……….we have a popcorn machine (keep the donations coming to keep the popcorn popping)……we still have Bingo on Sunday afternoons, but more people would be even better……..my kids are back in college after a 3-year “break”….. … we have really great employees who we couldn’t live without……..all our loved ones…… let’s all be thankful for the Redmond Eagles
