JULY PICNIC A BIG SUCCESS!
Everyone had a good time at our recent annual picnic.  Thanks to everyone who made it possible!  The food was great and all the contributions of salads and desserts were delicious!
Many thanks, also, to all who participated in the gift basket raffle.  Ladies Auxiliary President, Carole Browning, raised $116 for her charity, the Humane Society.

BACA (Bikers Against Child Abuse) FUNDRAISER
Friday, August 22.
Come and support this event and enjoy live music by “Never Cry” (classic rock band), a silent auction, coin toss games, raffles, and more.  All this for an amazing cause!  Everyone is welcome to come.  Members are free; non-members are asked to pay an entry donation of $5.00.  All proceeds will go to BACA.  Donations of gift baskets, gift certificates, etc. for the silent auction would be appreciated.  Questions?  Contact Sue at 425-985-0269 or visit the website at www.bacaworld.org.

PLEASE NOTE
CLUB CLOSED ON LABOR DAY WEEKEND & MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 1
We will reopen on Tuesday, September 2.  Our first meetings of the month will be held on that night, and we will start our fall schedule of being open 7 days a week!

THANK YOU, SCOTT & JIM
A big thanks to Aerie President, Scott Nettleton, who provided storage space for our new paddle wheel.
AND to Jim Board for installing a new lock for the closet door.  Way to go, guys!

LADIES AUXILIARY NEWS
Four new members were welcomed into the Auxiliary in July – Cindy Anderson, Kris Ott, Kristine Demarest and Susan Carson.  We’re looking forward to seeing you at future meetings!
We regret that Opal Pope and Mavis Welcome were not at the meetings in July.  They lost out on winning the membership pot.  Sorry, ladies.  Remember, members, you could be a big winner when you attend Auxiliary meetings!
Please note:  The Ladies Auxiliary will hold a fall membership drive in October at the special membership rate of $30 for new members.  Look for more information in September!

TRAVEL CLUB UPDATE
(Submitted by Margie Halgren)
July and August outings were cancelled.  The next outing will be at the Velasco’s on September 5, 6 & 7, where you can enjoy Mt. Rainer and NW Trek, along with the Velasco’s wonderful hospitality.  Several members plan to leave the Velasco’s on September 8 and head down to the Oregon coast with the destination of Newport in mind.  Be sure to attend the next Travel Club meeting on August 13 to make final plans, or contact Mollie to let her know if you plan on going   The September outing is the last outing scheduled.  If you have any ideas and would like to volunteer to be a host/hostess, please come to the meeting to discuss!  See you there!

MEMBERSHIP
Please be prepared to show your valid membership card at any time.  Also, remember to sign in your guests and after 3 guest visits, encourage them to sign up for a membership.  Aerie membership for initial sign up = $55; then $40 a year.  Ladies Auxiliary initial sign up = $40 and then $25 a year (unless there’s a special membership drive).  Such a good deal that gives members access to other Eagles clubs in the U.S.A. and Canada!  Build new friendships along the way!

WHAT’S COMING UP
BUS TRIP -   Saturday, September 27.  $30 per person which includes drinks.  Sign ups start on August 15.  We will be visiting the Eagles clubs in Kirkland, Renton, Issaquah and Snoqualmie.
BINGO – Bingo will be coming back if we can get volunteers to run the games!  Contact Vi or Ken if you can help!

GOT GAMES?
Do you have any games taking up space in your closet?  Board games, Yahtzee, card games, trivia??
Bring them to the club and help build a game center for everyone to use and share.  Every night can be a game night!  Thanks!

MY APOLOGIES
To Celeste Alvarez for misspelling your last name in last month’s newsletter.  Unfortunately, when I heard your name over the phone, I didn’t ask how it was spelled and thought I heard a different name.  Sorry, Celeste.  Apologies also to Grant Barrie who I somehow thought was named Frank!  Sorry, Grant.   That’s my quota of mistakes for the rest of the year……….I hope!   J

I've changed the blog posting order and wonder which you, the reader prefer. The news part first or the calendar? You may email me at ritzythings@gmail.com. In the subject line in bold put EAGLES BLOG! If you have pictures you'd like to share with the group, they are very easy for me to post. You can email them to me with a note of who, what, where and when and I'll be happy to add them to our blog.
Thanks everyone! We had 161 page views last month! Can we break 200 this month? Ritzy Ritzhaupt, Eagles blogger.
